Sheffield Business is growing, just like the property rental market in the area. Never before has there been a better time to set up a business in the Sheffield area, from bars, pubs and clubs through to insurance brokers, solicitors and printers there is always space for a new business in Sheffield. The Sheffield economy is seeing something of a revival due to the efforts of many local business and enterprises,The Sheffield Development Corporation was established in 1988 in order to regenerate the Lower Don Valley area for business use, it took eleven years but they managed to replace and revitalise previous derelict land with new ventures such as the Meadowhall shopping centre. New businesses are being set up in Sheffield all the time, such as eSmokingJacket; a new company selling cases for electronic cigarettes. The city is currently undergoing large scale redevelopment, some of which involves improving the Midland Station, creation of a New Retail quarter, Victoria Quays, and Riverside Exchange.
There are lots of other public works buildings, luxury accommodation and office space being built in the city. The Sheffield city centre population is expected to increase from 5,000 in 2005 to 15,000 by 2015 mostly due to the attraction of many types of new business. £250 million pounds has also been invested in the city during the first half of 2005.
